Weekly Builds go Live

As we announced back when this project was started, we were planning to provide weekly builds of the MythTV release-0-20-fixes branch.

After sorting out lots of little odds and ends regarding the build process, they should be live as of today. The builds are built by the PPA (Personal Package Archive) service of Canonical and are provided for both i386 and AMD64.

Surprise

Unannounced previously, these builds actually are available both for trunk and release-0-20-fixes. Do note however, that if you are going to use trunk, you won't be getting support from the Ubuntu MythTV team. These are provided merely as a convenience to users who would like to use them. Be sure to backup your database prior to upgrading to trunk.

Enabling the builds

Unfortunately, Canonical's service doesn't include signed packages or repositories. This means that we have to mirror the packages offsite and resign them ourselves. Axel Thimm of atrpms.net was courteous enough to provide hosting in the US for this mirror. Dave Walker is providing hosting in the UK.

MythTV 0.20.2 Packages

Ubuntu Packages

As most people using MythTV have by now heard, MythTV 0.20.2 was released late last week. The new version introduced support for Schedules Direct

Packages for Ubuntu are available across multiple releases:

Gutsy

The Ubuntu Gutsy packages have been updated to the new release. So if you are on an existing Mythbuntu alpha, you can upgrade through standard apt methods to 0.20.2. The upcoming Alpha 4 will also include MythTV 0.20.2.

Feisty & Edgy

Feisty and Edgy users aren't to be left in the dark. Packages have been announced to feisty-proposed and edgy-proposed as of tonight. Please see this URL for more information:

Weekly Builds

Lastly, weekly builds on the current test server, ppa.dogfood.launchpad.net have been updated. These include the gutsy packaging, but are built for Feisty. We're still waiting for PPA to go live to migrate to the new server and include signed keys. There was an unanticipated delay in it's roll-out. The new URL will be announced as soon as we're ready.
