- How do I upgrade to MythTV [Insert version here] on [Insert release here]?
- See Upgrading
- How do I upgrade to Mythbuntu [Insert release here]?
- See Upgrading
- Why are the MythVideo settings blank in the frontend in MythTV 0.22?
- MythTV 0.22 introduces Storage Groups for MythVideo. These are setup by default for you in mythtv-setup, and will conflict with the local frontend settings if the paths are the same. Local MythVideo settings will not use the MythTV protocol to transfer videos between your frontends. See MythVideo - Local Video Storage
- I don't like the MythVideo Storage Groups. What should I put in the Local MythVideo settings?
- You can delete the MythVideo Storage Groups in mythtv-setup. Then just copy down the paths used for the Storage Groups and enter them in the local MythVideo Settings. If you have more than one frontend, don't forget to manually set up network sharing between them.
- Why can't I play ISO's in MythTV 0.22?
- Storage Groups are a streaming method of transmitting material to a frontend, meaning they don't provide block-level access to the file in question. An ISO is a disk image, and libdvdnav/libdvdcss, the libraries used to view DVDs/DVD images, requires block-level access. See MythVideo - Disadvantages
- Why doesn't (Xine, VLC, etc) work on MythTV 0.22?
- External players currently do not work when using Storage Groups. See MythVideo - Disadvantages
- I upgraded to MythTV and now the Video Manager is missing. Where did it go?
- MythVideo no longer needs Video Manager to edit metadata and scan for changes, this can be done from any of the MythVideo screens. See MythVideo - Scanning for videos
- I like MythTV the way it was in 0.21, why are you making all these changes?
- MythTV is making some really good changes in a push to make MythTV easier to setup. See MythVideo - Advantages
- Why can't I install MythTV 0.22 on Hardy?
- MythTV 0.22 includes the new MythUI, which requires a newer version of QT that Hardy does not include. See MythUI Demo
- I've installed MythTV on top of Gnome and can see the Gnome taskbars when MythTV is full screen. How can I fix this?
- Disable Compiz by going to System > Preferences > Appearance (on your Gnome taskbar). Click on the Visual Effects tab, and select none.
- Why can't I rip DVD's in MythTV 0.22?
- This is most likely due to an overzealous developer who made some default Mythbuntu changes for storage groups, and forgot about ripping DVD's. To fix this, see Working with ISOs in MythTV 0.22
- What is Mysql root password?
- Early versions allowed blank root password. Newer versions set root password to main user login password during the install.
- I updated using auto-builds and now MythVideo (or MythMusic, MythGallery, etc) doesn't work (and I am using 64-bit Mythbuntu)
- This can happen if the i386 build has not finished compiling, the amd64 build has finished compiling and is published and you update during this period. This mostly happens around the distro release. To resolve this please wait for the i386 build to finish then upgrade (You can check the status by going to this page and selecting the personal package archive for the MythTV release you are running)
- I updated using auto-builds and now MythVideo (or MythMusic, MythGallery, etc) doesn't work
- This can happen if the mythplugins packages have not completed building. This mostly happens around the distro release as servers are pulled from the builds to help distribute the load of ISO's. To resolve this please wait for the build to finish then upgrade (You can check the status by going to this page and selecting the personal package archive for the MythTV release you are running)
